Meet our Team of Licensed Therapists

Jennifer Grubbs, LCSW

I see each person as valuable in the eyes of God, so I approach therapy with that same value on each person. I use a variety of therapy techniques to show grace, confront hard truths, and build strengths in each person with whom I work. I help you identify connections in your life that may not be so easy to see, and I work with you to help you build up the strengths that you already have. I approach therapy from a holistic point of view, starting with the presenting issue, and moving outward from there.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Complex Trauma professional. I received my Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and my Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University South Bend. I have extensive experience working with those recovering from distressing life experiences, such as trauma, addictions, life transitions, interpersonal and or/relational dysfunction. I am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Our therapy sessions are meant to feel safe and supportive, so you can feel comfortable exploring your feelings and experiences. I hope therapy feels as pleasant as sharing a good cup of coffee with a friend, in that we chat, we discuss, we brainstorm together, and you leave each session feeling empowered, hopeful, and secure in who you are and who God created you to be.

April Thompson, LMHCA

As a licensed mental health counselor associate, I offer help for those who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety or trauma by creating a sense of safety and a place where you feel heard. You may have experienced significant dysfunction in your family of origin and continue to grapple with the consequences of that in your present life, or sometimes grief or major life transitions can make it difficult to move forward. There are many ways that life can feel overwhelming, but there is hope that things can change.

I believe that all people have intrinsic value and are created with care. I offer person-centered therapy that honors this value. I use research based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Polyvagal Theory and Family Systems approaches.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Indiana State University with a minor in Business Administration. I received my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University South Bend. I also have some additional seminary training with a focus on the integration of counseling and theology. I have worked with many people from diverse backgrounds, at all stages of life, including teens and adults.
