I see each person as valuable in the eyes of God, so I approach therapy with that same value on each person. I use a variety of therapy techniques to show grace, confront hard truths, and build strengths in each person with whom I work. I help you identify connections in your life that may not be so easy to see, and I work with you to help you build up the strengths that you already have. I approach therapy from a holistic point of view, starting with the presenting issue, and moving outward from there. I hope therapy feels as comfortable as sharing a good cup of coffee with a friend, in that we chat, we discuss, we brainstorm together, and you leave each session feeling empowered, hopeful, and secure in who you are and who God created you to be.
I spent years of my own life pruning out the weeds of this world in order to find true freedom and peace in who Christ says I am. I have come to understand that my value does not lie in what others say or think of me, but my value comes from the One who created me (and you!). Unfortunately, my learning took years of heartache and bad decisions, which I hope to help you avoid. I spent too much time believing the lies, running away from uncomfortable feelings, and embracing unhealthy behaviors that led to more destruction. I want to help you see the truth, walk in freedom, and embrace the peace that transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
My healing began when I gave my life to Jesus in 2006. I have matured in the Word and knowledge of Christ since then. I’ve been on two mission trips to India. I’ve done internships and volunteer work in jails, at transitional living homes, and in co-occurring (mental health and substance abuse) groups. I’ve taught substance abuse prevention and recovery groups. I love to listen to people’s stories and watch how Christ tears down walls and builds gardens in the lives of those who trust Him.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and my Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University South Bend. My career has focused on substance abuse issues and prevention, family relational problems, anxiety, depression, early childhood trauma, and self-esteem struggles. I am trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Studio Arts.
I am a wife, a mother of two, an artist, and a gardener. I love coffee and quiet mornings, 80s rock, football, and all things summertime.
